Incredibly strong and under 3.5kg - The finest protection for cellos
The MMX VC3 cello case is extremely strong, lightweight, and perfectly balanced. In fact the case stands upright in a stable position open or closed, with or without the cello inside. This is a streamlined and carefully thought out cello case, where we have kept the weight to a minimum by keeping the design refreshingly simple.
Technology
The MMX is built from an advanced composite material in order to achieve the optimum 80:20 carbon/composite strength to weight ratio.
Style
The MMX VC3 case design follows the subtle curves and shape of the instrument leaving very little wasted space and keeping the size of the case to a minimum thus reducing weight - somehow the MMX looks smaller than many other cases and is therefore very easy to fit in enclosed spaces
Colours
Available in nine striking colours: Polar White, Very Deep Purple, Hot Pink, Very Dark Blue, Dolphin Blue, Deep Green, Olive, Carbon Grey and Very Deep Red - our paint is very strong and protects against discoloration as well as scratching to the surface. All cases are supplied with a carbon polishing cloth to keep the finish as good as new. In addition, cases are supplied with cloth drawstring covers which can be useful if the case is being placed in a dusty location!
Padded suspension system
The MMX suspension system raises the cello on either side on injected foam cushions to ensure that the spike does not make contact with the base of the case. The scroll and neck straps & two padded fold over strips protect the instrument from the sides. Finally a second injection foam cushion keeps the cello steady on closing the case.
Weight
Approximately 3.2kg however as each case is largely hand crafted the weight differs a little from case to case.
Paint
Lead free super strong paint coverings are used in all our cases.
Handles
Two hand stitched beautiful soft black leather handles - really comfortable over long journeys.
Hinges
The MMX VC3 has two black powder coated hinges which are each riveted in position in four places and protected by anti scuff rubber stoppers.
Metal plate for spike
Just in case we have fitted a hidden metal plate inside the case when the spike sits - guaranteeing long lasting protection.
Rubber stoppers
The case is protected from damage when placed on its back by 4 x rubber stoppers and cleverly.
Straps
All MMX cases are supplied as standard with two detachable neoprene extra comfort rucksack straps with quick release carabineer clasps.
Scroll loop protection
Elasticised scroll loop to hold cello in position when case open.
Clasps
The VC3 case has 6 x black powder coated spring loaded clasps - for easy opening with just one hand - they look good and should remain good.
Feet
Four rubber stoppers carefully positioned on the base, two of these are extended with MMX drag roll protection at the back of the case.
Internal pocket
Situated on the case interior (on the closing-side) in line with the scroll . Suitable for rosin and other small accessories, and with velcro fastening.
Bow holders
The MMX can take two bows tip down on either side of the case via mesh padded pockets with velcro fastening.
